Which choke tube do I use for my shotgun?
Which choke tube do I use for my shotgun?
The choice of choke should be made in relation to the distance at which most targets are to be shot. If the game is generally shot at distances of 40 yards or more, then a tight choke (improved modified or full) is appropriate. A modified choke would give approximately the same pattern density at 35 to 40 yards, improved cylinder at 30-35 yards, and so on. Since studies have shown that the great majority of game is shot at ranges under 40 yards, the modified choke is the most generally accepted for all-around shooting conditions.
Using target loads as the control ammunition the following percentages may be expected from the following chokes:

INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, IMOD | 65-75% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, MOD | 55-65% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, LMOD | 45-55% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, IC | 40-45% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, SK | 35-40% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, FULL, EXTENDED | 75-80% |

INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, MOD, EXTENDED | 55-65% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, LMOD, EXTENDED | 45-55% |
INVECTOR-DS CHOKE, 12, IC, EXTENDED | 40-45% |

Comparable percentages may be expected from the .410 bore at about 25 yards +10% above 5,000 foot elevation.
