Design Engineer II

JOB SUMMARY

The Firearms Design Engineer is responsible for the research, design, development, and improvement of firearms and firearm components. This role involves applying mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes to create safe, reliable, high performance firearms while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, company, and industry standards. The right candidate for this position needs to have a combination of innovation and creativity, but also can test, analyze, and use critical thinking skills to bring solid results to a finished product. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design of new, high-quality firearms, from concept to production, in accordance with company objectives.
  • Create or modify detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and engineering documentation. 
  • Coordinate prototype fabrication, leading the initial assembly, testing and evaluation processes. 
  • Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of product design and process development issues.
  • Conduct tolerance stack ups, stress analysis, and material selection. 
  • Perform functional testing, reliability assessments, and failure analysis on prototypes. 
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production efficiency and cost. 
  • Ensure all designs comply with federal, state, and international regulations. 
  • Support continuous improvement of existing firearm platforms. 
  • Maintain accurate design records and generate reports as required. 
  • Manage projects from concept through release, including scheduling and milestone tracking.
  • Travel upon request to the various production facilities, both domestic and international.
  • All other duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands on experience with firearms assembly, function testing, and troubleshooting. 
  • Understanding of SAAMI, CIP, ATF, ITAR, and other regulatory frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of ergonomics, human factors, and user centric design.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (Creo preferred). 
  • Familiarity with materials such as steel, alloys, polymers, and composites. 
  • Experience with GD&T and engineering drawing standards. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, metal injection molding, plastic injection molding, casting, forging, and additive manufacturing. 
  • Ability to apply engineering analysis methods. 
  • Strong problem solving skills and mechanical intuition. 
  • Some knowledge or experience in the following areas is beneficial but not required: 
    • Engineering testing and instrumentation including strain, load, and pressure measurements using the National Instruments LabVIEW software.
    • Setup and use of high-speed video equipment.
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
    • Manufacturing experience in relevant technologies.
    • Tolerance analysis and the use of tolerance analysis software.
    • Experience with metal finishing, coating, and plating.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • The employee must enjoy, support, and have a passion for the firearms industry.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, (Mechanical preferred), from an accredited college or university; an advanced degree is a plus.

10+ years’ experience in engineering design of mechanical consumer products (firearms preferred) with 2D and 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).

Browning (Morgan, UT) is hiring an accomplished National Sales Manager to lead and direct FN commercial sales across the U.S. dealer and distribution network. This is a highly visible, strategic leadership role for a results‑driven professional who thrives in complexity, embraces change, and is deeply passionate about the firearms and outdoor industry.

Success in this role requires exceptional organizational discipline, communication skills, critical thinking, and sound judgment, paired with a genuine enthusiasm for FN products and the broader shooting sports market. You will work closely with senior leadership, the Firearms Product Team, and an independently contracted sales force to design and execute sales strategies that drive sustainable growth and strengthen FN’s market position.

This role plays a critical part in shaping how FN engages the trade—building trust, navigating complex relationships, and converting challenges into long‑term, mutually beneficial partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The National Sales Manager will be accountable for the following core responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Strategic Market Leadership: Maintain a deep and current understanding of the outdoor and firearms industry, including market dynamics, competitive landscape, and relevant commercial and political factors—translating insight into actionable sales strategies.
  • Sales Forecasting & Performance Management: Create, manage, and refine monthly and annual sales forecasts at the territory and key account level, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and alignment with company objectives.
  • Program & Strategy Development: Design and execute category specific sales programs and cooperative merchandising initiatives in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Firearms Product leadership.

Job Summary

The Soft Goods Product Manager is responsible for managing the performance and lifecycle of assigned cut-and-sew product lines, including apparel, cases, bags, and related accessories within the hunting and outdoor market. This role analyzes product line financial performance—including P&L metrics, gross margin, and inventory turns—and recommends actions to improve profitability and competitiveness. The position leads product planning, specification development, sourcing coordination, pricing strategy, and merchandising while working closely with internal teams and global manufacturing partners. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, awareness of outdoor market and style trends, and the ability to collaborate effectively across international suppliers, dealer distribution channels, and internal functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Product Line Business Management

  • Monitor product line financial performance by analyzing P&L data, gross margin, inventory turns, and sell-through metrics, and recommend actions to improve profitability and product line growth.
  • Allocate time and resources toward the most promising opportunities based on product performance, market demand, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems that provide visibility into product profitability, inventory levels, and product lifecycle performance.

Cut-and-Sew Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Manage the full lifecycle of assigned cut-and-sew product lines including product concepts, materials selection, construction details, sourcing coordination, pricing strategy, and merchandising.
  • Define and maintain product specifications including fabrics, trims, construction methods, colors, and features to ensure products meet performance, cost, and market expectations.
  • Track product development progress and expedite products through design, sampling, manufacturing, and distribution stages to ensure successful product launches.
  • Manage the development, tracking, and distribution of sales samples and prototypes to ensure timely availability for sales teams, dealer presentations, and industry events.

Market and Trend Analysis

  • Monitor trends within the hunting and outdoor market—including materials, color direction, styling, construction techniques, features, and price positioning—to guide product direction.
  • Evaluate product performance relative to market trends and competitive offerings, recommending product improvements or new product opportunities.

Global Supplier and Production Coordination

  • Work closely with international cut-and-sew manufacturing partners to ensure products meet quality standards, cost targets, and production timelines.
  • Communicate product requirements through clear specifications, illustrations, and sample reviews to ensure accurate manufacturing execution.
  • Maintain effective communication across cultures and time zones to support consistent product quality and reliable production flow.

Cross-Functional and Channel Collaboration

  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, sourcing, and operations teams to align product strategy, production planning, and go-to-market execution.
  • Work with sales representatives, dealers, and customers to gather product feedback and identify opportunities to improve product performance and sales growth.

This dynamic individual will be responsible for providing captivating creative and technical written content across a variety of digital and print platforms with a focus on the shooting sports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide creative and effective written content for websites, social media, brochures, sales ads, and video scripts. 
  • Utilize SEO and GEO principles to maximize reach.
  • Provide technical written content for product packaging, feature/benefit sales materials, and instruction manuals.  
  • Must possess strong copy editing and proofreading skills.
  • Effectively collaborate with visual content creators, marketing, public relations, and other professionals to produce highly effective digital and printed sales materials.
