The production of the Gold semi-automatic shotgun began in 1993. 12 gauge models are no longer in production. The Gold 10 gauge version is still in production.

In 1976 Browning standardized its serial number identification which it followed until 1998. The Gold 10ga. went into production in 1993. This gun is produced in Japan and uses the following serial number configuration until 1998.

The Gold family of 12 and 20 ga. shotguns was introduced in 1994. They were produced in Belgium and used the following serial number configuration until 1998.
