Citori: The Over/Under Shotgun with a History of Performance.
Citori: The Over/Under Shotgun with a History of Performance.
A direct descendant of John M. Browning's Superposed, the Citori is the quintessential representative of the Browning brand. Action components are manufactured to exacting tolerances, heat-treated for strength, and carefully assembled using the traditional lampblack-and-file method to ensure precise fit. Wood-to-metal fit is impeccable. It is this extreme level of craftsmanship that leads to the dependable function, admirable appearance, championship performance and respect from generations of shotgunners.
The beauty of a Citori runs more than just skin deep, it's performance is something to behold. An accomplished shotgun competitor himself, it was Mr. Browning's belief that a shotgun with the barrels stacked one above the other, and with a single sighting plane, would be superior to the side by side models popular in his day. The Citori is nimble to the shoulder and deftly swings to the target with time-honored, natural grace. Whether for target sports or hunting, the stock and forearm dimensions and style are optimized for each model. Another aspect of the well-earned reputation of the Citori lies with it's durability. The full-width hinge pin and tapered locking lug design easily outlasts trunnion-style guns and why hunters and shooters say that a "Citori wears in, not out."
Legacy, beauty, performance, and durability ... it's all here. Get a Citori in your hands and see for yourself. Only then will you fully understand why the Citori is the best-selling over and under shotgun in the world.
Features of the Citori.
FULL-WIDTH HINGE PIN
The monoblock hinges on a strong full-width hinge pin that is significantly stronger and more durable than trunnion designs.
TAPERED LOCKING BOLT
A transverse-mounted, full-width tapered locking bolt fits into the monoblock recess and self-adjusts for wear to keep the action locked-up tight.
STEEL RECEIVER
Receivers (except Feather models) are machined from steel and feature either a traditional blued finish or a silver nitride finish that offers improved wear resistance, increased fatigue strength and added protection against corrosion. Learn more...
FEATHER TECHNOLOGY
Feather technology replaces the steel receiver with a high quality alloy receiver to reduce weight by about one pound. Steel inserts are placed in the alloy receiver at the breech face and hinge surfaces to retain long-term durability.
INERTIA STYLE TRIGGER
Tried, true and reliable, Citori shotguns use an inertia-style trigger that borrows recoil from the first shot to set the hammer for the next shot to be fired.
EJECTORS
The ejectors are activated by a sharp strike for more positive ejection compared to the push imparted by competitors’ ejectors. Fired hulls are ejected when the breech is opened and unfired shells are elevated for easy removal.
PRECISION BARRELS
Browning shotgun barrels are noted for their quality construction that emphasizes durability with features that optimize shot pattern performance.
CHOKE TUBES
12 and 20 gauge models receive the Invector-Plus Interchangeable Choke Tube System. 16 and 28 gauge and .410 bore models benefit from the Standard Invector system.
FLOATING RIB
A floating rib allows the rib and barrel to expand independently, minimizing point of impact shift caused by barrel heat.
POINT OF IMPACT
Depending on the end use, Citori shotguns have different points of impact (POI).
The flat 50/50 POI is preferred when a target presentation can come from any direction, like a target soaring in from overhead on a sporting clays course or a pheasant erupting from the brush. The versatile 60/40 POI is great for all clay target sports and hunting as it allows the shooter to float the target slightly to improve the sight picture. Shotguns with a 70/30 POI are more suited to trap, where the higher POI allows a rising target to be visible when the trigger is pulled.
CHROME CHAMBERS
Citori shotguns feature chrome chambers for increased durability, corrosion resistance and easier cleaning.
INFLEX II RECOIL PAD
The Inflex II recoil pad uses directional deflection to send the comb down and away from the face, reducing felt recoil for greater shooting comfort and allowing faster, more accurate follow-up shots. Learn More...
THREE POSITION TRIGGER
Featured on target models, the adjustable Three Position Trigger allows the trigger shoe to be set in one of three positions to fine-tune finger-to-trigger reach. One trigger shoe is included.
TRIPLE TRIGGER SYSTEM
Certain Citori target models may include the Triple Trigger System that offers three position finger to trigger reach adjustment and three interchangeable trigger shoes for a truly personalized fit.
SAFETY/BARREL SELECTOR
Placed within easy reach on the top tang, the safety and barrel selector switch is intutive to operate and allows you to select which barrel fires first.
ADJUSTABLE COMB
Certain models feature an adjustable comb to customize stock dimensions such as cast and drop. An adjustable comb will help you achieve a perfect fit to your shotgun and a repeatable mount that instinctively puts your eye consistently in alignment with the sights.
Total Barrel Dynamics.
Whether you're on the range cruising to victory or swinging onto a covey of quail, the shot pattern your gun produces is vital. 12 and 20 gauge Citori shotguns feature Total Barrel Dynamics – the combination of a lengthened Vector Pro forcing cone, Back-Bored Technology and the Invector interchangeable choke tube system – working in unison to optimize shot pattern performance. Each component of Total Barrel Dynamics plays a part to reduce shot deformation, improve pattern density, and put more pellets on the target.
VECTOR PRO FORCING CONE
The forcing cone is the tapered transition between the chamber and the bore that constricts the shot column. Vector Pro is superior because it has a gradual taper. The Vector Pro forcing cone reduces stress on the shot column as it moves into the bore to reduce pellet deformation for more uniform patterns and more pellets in the center of the pattern. Optimal bore diameter specifications maximize shot velocity and shot pattern performance. Read More...
INVECTOR-PLUS
To maximize versatility and optimize shot pattern performance, Citori shotguns feature the reliable Invector-Plus system. The consistent, reliable shot patterns you need with unmatched durability. Read More...
