Speed Load Plus — Semi-Auto Shotguns
Speed Load Plus — Semi-Auto Shotguns
Speed Loading has been popular on Browning autoloaders for decades. Browning’s patent-pending feeding system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine directly into the chamber.
The "Plus" in Speed Load Plus means unloading is just as easy. On some autoloaders unloading the magazine requires the repetitive working of the action to chamber then eject shells one at a time. The speed unload feature makes emptying the magazine fast and easy, without having to do this. Speed Load has always been an essential feature for the most avid duck hunters who like the speed with which they can reload the chamber after unloading their magazine — to get back on the next birds faster.
“Speed loading” became synonymous with John Moses Browning's Automatic 5 but was actually the invention of his son Val Browning (also a great gun designer) with the patent awarded in 1952.
The Speed Load Plus feature is demonstrated and explained in the video below using the Browning A5.
