Among the magazines that cover the “ins and outs” of smoothbore shooting, Shotgun Sports is among the most respected. As the cover subject of their August 2017 issue, Editor in Chief Johnny Cantu put the Browning Citori CX through its paces and came off the trap field very impressed.
“Recently I was given the opportunity to test a new addition to the long line of Browning clay target shotgun models, the Citori CXT trap over/under,” began Cantu. “This new Browning clay-target crusher arrived at my office configured with 30” ported barrels, 3” chambers, ventilated top and side ribs, three Midas Grade Invector-Plus choke tubes in Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder and Grade II American walnut stock and forend, gloss finished with a 1” Inflex recoil pad. Other features included VectorPro lengthened forcing cones, Triple Trigger System with one trigger supplied (wide/checkered), white front and mid-beads, full-width hinge pin and full-width locking plate.”
“I like the feel of improved rear-hand control on the gun a smaller wrist gives.”

“The Citori CXT Trap, as its name describes, is designed to destroy clay targets seen on the trap lanes,” Cantu continued. “My first impression when I unpacked the CTX Trap is the wrist seemed more streamlined, thinner, with a slight, almost unnoticeable palm-swell in the right-hand side. I liked the feel of the stock right away…. I like the feel of improved rear-hand control on the gun a smaller wrist gives.”
“(The Citori CXT Trap) never faltered in annihilating, eviscerating, insulting and generally demoralizing the…bird.”

During his live fire test, Cantu ran the table with the Citori CXT, describing his time behind the gun “...it never faltered in annihilating, eviscerating, insulting and generally demoralizing the…bird.”
“I found the new Browning Citori CXT Trap over/under to be well-designed, well-configured, comfortable to shoot, reasonably priced and worthy of the name Browning,” Cantu concluded. “This is a quality gun.…How could you possibly go wrong?”
