Cartridge Size Comparison

The 6.5 PRC is often referred to as the 6.5 Creedmoor’s “big brother.” It is indeed based on a larger basic cartridge size for a bit more flexibility in loads. It has already proven to be an effective hunting cartridge, but make no mistake, the concept for the cartridge was conceived by long-range target shooters -- which accounts for its exceptional long range (exceptional at 1,000 yards) accuracy. It gives precision rifle shooters and hunters the advantage of a flat shooting, heavy bullet with very manageable recoil.

According to the cartridge development team, it is capable of delivering "2,000 foot-pounds of energy at 500-yards." That means that the 6.5 PRC provides "an 8-percent increase in velocity over the Creedmoor cartridge as well as 28-percent more capacity within the cartridge itself." The 6.5 PRC's exceptional ballistics, proven accuracy, and exceptional hunting energy make it an excellent choice for medium to large North American game.
