The X-Bolt 2 Speed rifle is a popular best seller, having earned a fine reputation for out-of-the-box accuracy, toughness, and jaw-dropping good looks. In addition to the standard X-Bolt 2 features like the ultra-secure X-Lock scope mount system, three-lug bolt with 60-degree handle lift, and adjustable multi-level DLX Trigger, this rifle includes several other sought-after accouterments.

The sporter contour, fluted barrel shaves weight and boosts accuracy. A radial muzzle device puts the brakes on felt recoil. The composite stock with a camo finish resists weather and provides added concealment, and the Cerakote finish offers durability and protection over a blued finish.

This new X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR builds on its predecessor's reputation and has already proven itself in the hands of the Browning Pro Staff and media members on hunts ranging from the lower 48 to Alaska to Africa.

Like the original, this new Speed SPR rifle was developed for total accuracy, with every component working in sync to make the gun more accurate. The latest version, however, goes a step further by focusing on improving the interface between the rifle and the hunter. An all-new adjustable stock, refined trigger, and enhanced receiver assist the shooter in achieving the rifle's full accuracy potential by optimizing the fit and controls to suit the user.

What's Different About the SPR?

What's Different About the SPR?

What separates the Speed SPR is a barrel that is shorter than standard – four inches shorter, to be exact – to keep the rifle length in check when using an optional suppressor. A suppressor allows hunters to improve their rifle's performance by reducing felt recoil and noise. With less recoil, it is far more enjoyable to shoot high-powered cartridges with a suppressor than without. The suppressor reduces muzzle rise and recoil force on the Speed SPR, enabling the shooter to maintain their crosshairs on the target. Although most suppressors can't diminish the sound of your high-powered rifle to hearing-safe levels, the reduced noise can decrease flinching response.

To keep weight down, the barrel has a lighter sporter contour with the belled muzzle to accommodate the larger 5/8"-24 suppressor threading. The Speed SPR comes standard with a radial muzzle brake and thread protector. For those looking for additional recoil reduction, an optional Browning Recoil Hawg Sporter muzzle brake can be added. The fluted sporter contour keeps the rifle light without sacrificing performance.

Because of its shorter barrel, the Speed SPR is light, maneuverable, and easy to carry. Whether you're chasing mulies in the mountains, whitetails in the woods, or antelope on the plains, this rifle's shorter length makes navigating through vegetation and tough terrain easier.

Steel Browning rifle barrels are free-floated, button rifled, and triple-checked for interior finish and straightness and air-gauged for uniformity. Every chamber is hand-reamed for precision accuracy, and a recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage.

The Vari-Tech Advantage

The Vari-Tech Advantage

Having a rifle that fits the shooter correctly is a surefire way to boost accuracy. Proper fit ensures correct eye-to-scope alignment, improves shooting comfort, reduces flinching, and adds all-important confidence. To meet these goals, Browning developed the new Vari-Tech stock.

Wearing Browning's versatile OVIX Camouflage, the Vari-Tech stock of the X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR is made from a rugged composite material and features adjustable cheekpiece height, length of pull, and includes interchangeable sporter and vertical grip modules. Even with three-way adjustment, this new design is lightweight and retains the shape of a traditional rifle stock.

Importantly, Vari-Tech is also easy to adjust. The thoughtful design of the Vari-Tech stock also includes an additional structure in the fore-end that allows the stock to be modified for secure use with an ARCA/Swiss rail. Rubber overmolding in the gripping areas provides a sure hold even in cold, wet conditions.

An excellent 1-1/4-inch thick Inflex recoil pad offers superior protection against felt recoil. The Inflex design is soft, with a snag-free material on the heel, and engineered with internal ribs that pull the pad down and slightly away from the face for greater comfort.

New Receiver and DLX Trigger

New Receiver and DLX Trigger

The receiver, specifically the inside, has been refined with additional bolt guidance surface for smoother bolt operation. The bolt is now spiral fluted for weight reduction and features a new triangular knob shape that boosts ergonomics. Like the original X-Bolt, the new Speed SPR uses the same patented polymer rotary magazine that feeds from the center to send cartridges straight to the chamber, reducing the chance of damaging bullet tips. A bolt unlock button works with the easy-to-reach tang safety to make it simple to unload the chamber with the safety on.

The new DLX Trigger in the X Bolt 2 is a multi-lever design. It ships set to approximately 3-1/2 pounds and can be adjusted to 3 pounds. This precision design offers zero creep, zero take-up, and zero overtravel for ultimate feel.

One of the Speed SPR rifle's most arresting features is the signature Cerakote finish on the metalwork. This finish is more durable than traditional bluing, adds concealment, and looks good.

With variables minimized by a dialed-in Vari-Tech stock and precision DLX Trigger, the new X-Bolt 2 Speed SPR is ready to tackle the high mountains, broad deserts, or hardwoods in search of big game. It is available in eight popular new and traditional calibers to match the game you're chasing. Equipped with an optional suppressor, the Speed SPR protects your hearing, reduces felt recoil, and makes it harder for the game to detect the shot's origin.
